SUMMARY:

The Science Curriculum and Instruction Specialist at National Heritage Academies (NHA) will report directly to the Science Curriculum Manager and will be a member of the Curriculum and Instruction team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a dynamic science teacher with experience teaching a variety of content and a strong background in unit planning and assessment development. In addition, the ideal candidate will be skilled in the incorporation of literacy standards and very familiar with the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core standards for literacy in science.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide curriculum and assessments for science teachers in 9 states, beginning in Michigan.
  • Actively track and evaluate the effectiveness of created resources.
  • Provide professional development for science teachers.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to observe, model lessons, and coach science teachers in all National Heritage Academies (NHA) schools as requested.
  • Research and promote best practices in assigned content areas.
  • Maintain and enhance current projects.
  • Ability to travel as required - 50% of time, mostly in Michigan but sometimes overnight.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education is required, Master's Degree preferred.
  • 4-10 years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience presenting to adult learners.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Extensive experience working in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, both written and verbal.
  • Candidates must be located in the East Michigan region.
