Under the direction of the K-12 Coordinating Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor for Behavior and Social-Emotional Support Programs will provide oversight and supervision of services designed to address the academic and social-emotional needs of students with Emotional Disabilities.The position will also provide supervision and support the needs of students with challenging behaviors across the continuum of services.

Salary Range: $96,538- $141,771

Detailed Description
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Provides direct leadership in the programmatic design, implementation, and monitoring of the behavior support programs for students with disabilities;
  • Provides direct supervision to behavior specialists and behavior analysts;
  • Provides technical support in analyzing behavior data to ensure implementation of behavior intervention plans and the delivery of special education services in the least restrictive environment;
  • Demonstrates knowledge and expertise regarding the band of Tier 1, 2 & 3 interventions in a variety of settings, utilizing specific evidenced based principles and applied behavior analysis techniques;
  • Develops meaningful data collection systems to measure progress of students with behavior intervention plans;
  • Assists with the development and implementation of positive behavior support and intervention techniques, and behavior intervention plans as part of the individual education plan (IEP) process;
  • Collaborates with other service providers including school psychologists, social workers and Professional School Counselors and external mental health providers to assure the consistency of behavior intervention plans are implemented;
  • Provides classroom consultation and collaboration with members of a school team and attend IEP meetings, if requested;
  • Assists with conducting Functional Behavior Assessments;
  • Provides training in data collection and in the use of positive behavior support, intervention techniques and instructional methodologies to school based and district staff;
  • Plans and coordinates cross-functional opportunities for professional learning;
  • Serves as a liaison between the Department of Special Education and other key PGCPS departments and offices; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Job Requirements
    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of issues and legislation relevant to special education;
  • Thorough knowledge of behavior strategies, analyzation of data techniques and data collection methods;
  • Knowledge of use of technology for collection of behavior data;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of administrative policies;
  • Demonstrates competence in developing and leading professional learning opportunities for teachers, paraprofessionals, related services providers, principals and administrators;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a work environment with high performance demands;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as effective human relations and interpersonal skills;
  • Three years of experience working with children with special needs and developing and implementing behavior intervention plans based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis; and
  • Experience in developing parent training on how to implement behavior intervention plans and behavior strategies.

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Master's degree from an accredited institution in educational and/or special education or related services field and five years of successful teaching experience.

    CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Advanced Professional Certificate Administration I required; Board Certified Behavior Analysis certification preferred; Degree in or certification in the area(s) of Special Education, Related Service Area, Psychology, Counseling, Social Worker

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Supervise and provide guidance to behavior specialists, behavior analysts and crisis intervention resource teachers.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, and use fingers, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
