The Project Manager, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) will join the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) department of Assessment, providing project management expertise to the onboarding, implementation, and continuous improvement of Branching Minds, the enterprise Multi-Tiered System of Supports system. This work will include ongoing training, customer engagement, vendor management, and data analysis once the system goes live. The Project Manager will report to the MTSS Manager.

The Project Manager, MTSS will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
  • Vendor management in the integration and implementation of the Branching Minds MTSS Platform in connection with the Moving Forward Together priority
  • Manage project deliverables and operational activities, ensuring current, accurate and quality project information using proven project management methodologies and techniques
  • Define project scopes and initiate and manage MTSS projects, including executing project work plans and revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Produce project reports, communications, presentations, and performance metrics for multiple audiences and levels within the organization
  • Manage scope, time, and budget; reporting status; capturing and prioritizing changes in scope, and coordinating work tasks through all stages of the project life cycle
  • Develop and implement the continuous improvement process for the Branching Minds MTSS Platform in CPS, in alignment with CPS priorities and coordinated across relevant offices
  • Analyze data sets for quality control, future implementation, and troubleshooting
  • Provide excellent service to partners, both internal and external to CPS Central Office
  • Effectively drive implementation efforts for the integration of related software platforms and other data sources
  • Perform related duties as assigned


In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Project Manager, MTSS must possess the following qualifications:

Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Education, Business, Public Policy or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • CAPM or PMP certification preferred

Experience Required:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing large-scale implementation projects
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in database applications and network technology used in SaaS or cloud-based technologies (e.g. SQL, multi-tenancy)
  • Instructional and/or classroom experience in K-12 education preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Basic understanding of multi-tiered system of support as a framework for all schools
  • Exceptional organization and project-management abilities; capable of conducting multiple projects concurrently with high-quality results
  • Ability to proactively analyze technical factors, identify and understand stakeholder concerns, and provide solutions that support the best interests of the organization as a whole.
  • Ability to analyze data sets for quality control and troubleshooting and comfort with reviewing related SQL or SAS code
  • Capable of developing and maintaining positive relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and teamwork skills
  • Expertise in information data systems, student information systems or customer relationship management technology
  • Knowledge of common educational enterprise systems and technical standards
  • Proven ability to build positive working relationships within own team and with other stakeholders


Conditions of Employment:

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
  • Be Fully Vaccinated or Submit to Weekly COVID-19 Testing - Employees are required to be fully vaccinated within 30 days of their hire date. Full vaccination is defined as at least two weeks after your second shot of a two-shot vaccination course, or at least two weeks after a one-shot vaccination course. Unvaccinated staff must submit to weekly testing.
