PreK-12 Equity and Inclusion Coordinator

The Equity and Inclusion Coordinator will serve as a champion for anti-racism, equity and social justice goals within the Farmington Public Schools and school community. This individual will work to build the capacity of all staff members to actively create inclusive communities of respect and learning that recognize and nurture the gifts of every child. The district is committed to the development of social and emotional learning using the RULER approach, and this individual will assist in deepening all stakeholders' understanding of SEL strategies, restorative practices, and a culturally responsive approach to teaching and learning. As a thought partner and leader, the Equity and Inclusion Coordinator will join a team of coaches and specialists to bring an equity lens to all systems of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Hold or be eligible for CT State Teaching Certification
    Recent and relevant experience implementing successful equity-related initiatives
  • References indicating a high degree of personal responsibility, a learner orientation, and a relationship-focused approach to leadership
  • Consideration will be given to the following:
    • Training in Restorative Justice practices, RULER, Family Engagement
    • Various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness.
    • ?Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Human Rights, Ethnic Studies, Sociology or other related areas

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and certification

WORK SCHEDULE: School year plus two additional days

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Partner with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction in leading the district-wide FPS Community Council on Equity and Inclusion
  • Work directly with administrators, teacher leaders, and family support liaisons at each school to communicate a clear vision, support students, and articulate strategic improvement efforts in the areas of social justice, anti-racism, equity and inclusion aligned with the district Equity Framework
  • Work on a systems-level to promote inclusion and equity in the areas of professional learning, recruitment, teaching and learning, culture and climate, curriculum development and communications
  • Work directly with school-based student-led Equity Leadership Groups to promote student voice and agency
  • Advance implementation of culturally responsive classrooms, restorative practices, RULER and related work with partner organizations to promote inclusivity, social justice and anti-racism
  • Facilitate data-driven decision making to boldly address gaps and barriers to opportunity, readiness, or achievement
  • Develop and monitor improvement goals and collect evidence of impact
  • Work directly with families to assist them in developing and maintaining strong relationships with teachers and administrators
  • Update and maintain website and other communications related to district equity initiatives
