POSITION: Quaker Camp Director (1)
LOCATION: MIDDLE SCHOOL
EFFECTIVE DATES: July 5 - August 12, 2022
7:30 am - 12:00 pm (4.5 hours daily)
(29 instructional days with students), plus 10 additional days (i.e. 45 hours) for pre-program
planning, preparation of master schedule, class rosters, set up day and post-program responsibilities.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION: NYS Teaching Certificate required, experiences
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: SBL/SDL certification, currently pursuing admin coursework and/or teacher leadership,

SALARY: $36 / hour

JOB DESCRIPTION
QUAKER CAMP DIRECTOR
Background
The Orchard Park Central School District is seeking one Director to oversee our Middle School Quaker Camp summer program. The Director will be the administrator of the 5th to 6th-grade transition program, and the 6th-8th grade summer school program. The Director will work collaboratively with the middle school administrative team and have primary responsibilities in the program, which are outlined in greater detail below.
Program Schedule
  • Tuesday, July 5 - Friday, August 12, 2022 (29 instructional days with students)
  • Daily schedule: 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM (4.5 hours daily)
  • Plus, up to 10 additional days (i.e. 45 hours) for pre-program planning, preparation of master schedule and class rosters, set up day, and post-program responsibilities.
Responsibilities of the Director include but are not limited to:
  • Student enrollment to the program and the development of the class rosters (using District academic data and teacher input to recommend students);
  • A visible leader who is on-site to guide effective and efficient operations, such as arrival/dismissal procedures;
  • Parent communications;
  • Communications with faculty & staff, and the facilitation of faculty & staff meetings;
  • Creating a master schedule;
  • Developing the staffing plan, including grade-level assignments and teacher aide assignments;
  • Manage day-to-day operations such as teacher and staff absences and substitute assignments;
  • Safety, including the facilitation of safety drills;
  • Working closely with the nurse to ensure allergy action plans and other such medical accommodations are supported;
  • Student discipline in collaboration with the school principal/assistant principals;
  • Collaborating with Quaker Camp Co-Director, special education, regarding room usage and student programming.
Preferred Qualifications & Experiences
  • Valid NYS Teacher Certification;
  • Master's degree;
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience preferred;
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; and
  • Administrative coursework and/or educational leadership professional development preferred.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and support staff;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Strong organizational and data analysis skills;
  • A passion and commitment for supporting students academically, socially and emotionally, and physically.
Reports to
The OPMS Quaker Camp Director will report to the Middle School Principal.
Salary
The Director will be compensated at the summer hourly rate, per OPTA contract, for the projected hours outlined above.
