HIRING SALARY RANGE: $19.56 - $23.47 per hour

POSITION SALARY RANGE: $19.56 - $29.97 per hour

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is designed to bridge communication and help Hispanic families and develop stronger relationship by providing timely information to families through oral interpretations, written translations, and outreach. The ideal candidate will use their Spanish language skills on a daily basis to help improve commication through immediate interactions on a daily basis. They will also be a part of planning community events and specific family outreach to improve Hispanic engagement.

ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:

1. Serve as a parent liaison for Hispanic parents by accurately interpreting information for special education meetings, home visits, conferences, school family nights and meetings.
2. Translate school documents accurately and in a timely fashion.
3. Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and teachers to provide timely trainings for families to build parent involvement in schools.
4. Assist parents with navigation of school programs, including but not limited to: special education, preschool, English language acquisition, sports programs, honors, dual enrollment, etc.
5. Collaborate with school staff to provide trainings and language support for staff surrounding culture, translation and interpretation techniques, etc.
6. Interpret for assessments in speech/language, psychological, and cognitive abilities for Special Education teachers.
7. Administer Spanish Language Fluency Assessment for new bilingual staff.
8. Maintain confidential records in accordance with provisions of statute and district regulations.
9. Maintain high level of communication with administrators, counselors, English Language Acquisition teams and Special Education teams.
10. Be organized and work independently.
11. Manage a busy schedule, arriving on time and prepared for meetings and appointments with families and/or staff.
12. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent plus specialized technical courses.
2. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
3. 1 year related experience.
4. Proficiency in oral and written Spanish and English as determined by District Assessment.
5. Experience with the administration of Special Education Testing.
6. Computer skills: word processing and test administration software.
7. Training in Second Language Acquisition or instruction.
8. Valid Colorado driver's license.
9. Successful experience working with confidential information in an office setting.
