Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required, MA degree preferred
  • CA Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential required or
  • A CA state license and MA degree
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish written and verbal preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a urban setting or in a charter school setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication

Job Description
Speech Language Pathologist

Description: Utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration, the school Speech and Language Pathologist will provide prevention, assessment and remediation services to students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice and fluency. These services are designed to help children meet their educational goals. The Speech and Language Pathologist will work with children across multiple sites in grades Prek-12.

Responsibilities:
  • Create a positive, structured learning environment to ensure that students observe the school's core values, high expectations and code of conduct.
  • Provide small group and/or individual speech and language therapy for identified students in grades pre-K through 12 as indicated on the IEP
  • Focus constantly on student learning, thinking critically and strategically to respond to student learning needs.
  • Be accountable for student's mastery of IEP goals
  • Collaborate with colleagues and families in regard to supporting with speech and language deficits
  • Act as an interdisciplinary team member in the special education eligibility process administering Speech and Language assessments as required.
  • Serve as the case manager for students with Speech-Only IEP's
  • Articulate test results to parents and IEP members in clear, understandable language attending to cultural sensitivity
  • Assess, diagnose, treat and help to prevent speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency and other related disorders
  • Present levels of speech and language functioning and speech and language goals and objectives for students' IEP annual reviews.
  • Maintains compliant IEPS, including service tracking and progress to goal reports accordingly to parents and team members
  • Commit to continual professional growth
  • May be required to participate in grade level team meetings, faculty meetings, intervention and Student Success Team Meetings
