Essential Functions and Objectives:

T he Financial Partner is a strategic thought partner who uses financial forecasting and trend analysis to provide advice, guidance, and support to a portfolio of roughly 30 financially high performing autonomous schools. Responsible for providing financial oversight and guidance to the schools, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Performs strategic analysis related to school budgets, and directly supports district charter schools and the authorizing team. This role is office based and offers flexibility for some work from home including conducting virtual meetings. New hires should expect to work at the office during the initial phase of learning the job. Responsible for performing advanced technical analysis to solve business problems using advanced Excel, Google Sheets, and related methods. Part of supporting a portfolio of schools means providing assistance to business managers and school leaders with budget management responsibilities, including budget development, monitoring, reporting and analysis. Reviews financial documents to assess risk and future sustainability or identify areas of concern.

- Researches, strategizes and applies analytical methods to solve complex problems.

- Develops research methodology used to analyze systems, programs, datasets and reports to enhance the efficacy of funding programs, processes, procedures, goals and objectives.

- Create metrics, examine data, interpret findings and extract insights.

- Maintains proactive communication with key internal and external stakeholders.

- Presents data and recommendations to practitioners, partners and district stakeholder in effort to reveal gaps and areas of improvement.

-Provide financial analysis of school budgets, quarterly reports, and financial audits to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and to identify potential risks or areas of concern.

- Project year end balances and prepare journal entries as needed.

-Conduct meetings and on-site review of financial policies and information of schools during the renewal process.

-Provide guidance to charter school leaders and business managers on the appropriate use of the CDE chart of accounts for specific transactions.

-Ensure financial information provided for the CDE Data Pipeline is accurate and act as a liaison between the Office of the Controller at DPS and the charter school to address any questions or concerns that may arise during the process.

-Provide exceptional service and responsiveness to internal and external teams and clients.

-Assist in creating presentations to district and school leaders.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Five (5) years experience preferred in providing group and individual training to various employee populations.

- Five (5) years experience preferred in budgeting, accounting, and data analysis as well as research and evaluation skills utilizing automated systems (prefer experience in governmental accounting and budgeting environment).

- Skilled in using Excel pivot tables, graphing, macros, formulas and linking.

- Possess good oral and written communication skills.

- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), as well as Google Suite.

- Valid Colorado Driver's License, appropriate insurance coverage and acceptable driving record for the past three years.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.

- Effective communication skills.

- The ability to take responsibility for one's own performance.

- Work collaboratively with others on a team.

- Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment.

- Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematical operations required for the position, preferred.

- Ability to communicate various policies and procedures to school staff and department secretaries, preferred.

- Ability to perform detailed calculations and stay focused on the project, preferred.

- Possess mathematical and reconciliation aptitude, preferred.

- Ability to pay attention to detail and work on multiple projects at one time, preferred.

- Ability to work with time constraints and deadlines, preferred.

Education Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in business administration, accounting or finance; or equivalent education or experience.

- Master's degree preferred.
