Essex Westford School District is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and dedicated literacy educator to teach a grade 5 & 6 multi-age classroom at Westford Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year. This is currently a one year position.

Qualified candidates must hold, or be eligible to hold, a valid VT educator license in Elementary Education.

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the Common Core State Standards in Literacy
  • Knowledge of a balanced literacy approach
  • Experience using "backwards design" for lesson development
  • Experience applying differentiated instruction to support all students
  • Knowledge of formative assessment to provide student feedback and to adjust lesson delivery
  • Dedication to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for students
  • Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills

For column placement on the salary schedule we consider credits earned after the date of your degree (bachelor's or master's) in which you received a grade of B or better. For step placement, we grant one step for every year of previous public school teaching experience for the first five years, then one step for every two years of public school teaching experience thereafter. We also consider directly related private school or college level experience by granting up to one step for every two years of full-time experience in most cases.
