St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, a Lasallian Catholic, all-boys high school, announces an opening for a
full-time, long-term substitute in Visual Arts to begin in early April 2022 and end on or around June 14,
2022. The successful candidate will have the knowledge and skills necessary to teach both introductory
and advanced Visual Arts classes.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is engaged in experiences aligned with the mission of St. Joseph's Collegiate
Institute. Content expertise is expected, as is the desire and ability to teach students of diverse
backgrounds on an individual level. The candidate should be familiar with the NYS Visual Arts
Standards and be willing to design and articulate lessons that align with those standards.
Appropriate certifications and degrees are required. A completed (or in-progress) master's degree is
preferable, but not required.
Role and Responsibilities:
The candidate will be expected to participate fully in all obligations of a high school teacher,
incorporating modern and ever-changing educational technology to suit students' learning. A familiarity
with Adobe's Photoshop and Indesign programs is preferred, but not required.
In addition to classroom instruction, additional responsibilities may include proctoring assignments,
chaperoning events, and attending extracurricular programming.
The long-term substitute Art Teacher reports to the Principal and will work together with students,
faculty, and administrators.
