HERITAGE LANGUAGE SATURDAY PROGRAM TEACHER
JANUARY 5, 2022 NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION : The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the following teaching position in Buffalo Public Schools for the 2021-2022 academic year:
SATURDAY HERITAGE LANGUAGE PROGRAM TEACHER

QUALIFICATIONS : Candidates must be New York State certified in English as a New Language or be certified in another tenure area AND speak one of the languages that the Saturday hubs will be offered in (Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Haudenosaunee, Karen, Karenni, Swahili). It is required that candidates attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications. Additionally, it is preferred that candidates be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured teacher, have knowledge of the Common Core Learning Standards, NYSED New Language Arts Progressions (NLAP), Home Language Arts Progressions (HLAP), World Language Standards, early reading development and the application of scientifically-based research in English language arts, English as a New Language and Bilingual Education. Additional qualificaitons include cultural understanding of the language groups that the program will be offered.
DUTIES :
This recruitment bulletin in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. The employee will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other related duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or supervisor. Buffalo Public Schools reserves the right to update, revise or change this recruitment bulletin and related duties at any time without prior notice.
APPOINTMENT :
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY : Committee members will be paid at the contractual rate.

- Collaborate with home language staff to develop a Saturday Heritage Language Site.
- Plan, prepare and deliver instruction that facilitate active learning experiences.
- Maintain student progress monitoring data.
- Develop lessons that include strong learning objectives and reflect explicit instruction of skills.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and develop m ent.
- Provide app r opriate and timely feedback on stude n t work.
- Submit program assessment results in accordance with program guidance.
- Prepare required reports on students and activities.
- Manage student behavior a nd m aintain discipline by establishing classro o m rules and procedures and enforcing classro o m , school, and dis t rict rules and procedures.
- Cooperate with and partic i p ate in the p l anning, i m ple m entation, and evaluation of the total school program.
- Foster and maintain effect iv e communi c ation with parents and/or guardians.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Princip a l or other appropriate ad m i nistrator.
