NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION :
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of curriculum committee members for the following committee to serve as needed from November 2021 - August 2023:

Saturday Heritage Language Program
Curriculum Development

QUALIFICATIONS :

Candidates must be New York State certified in English as a New Language, or be certified in another tenure area AND speak one of the languages that the Saturday hubs will be offered in (Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Haudenosaunee, Karen, Karenni, Swahili). It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications. Additionally, preference will be given to teachers who have worked with Indigenous students and/or multilingual learnes for a minimum of three years. It is preferred that candidates have knowledge of NYSED New Language Arts Progressions (NLAP), World Language Standards, Home Language Arts Progressions (HLAP), early reading development and the application of scientifically-based research in English language arts, English as a New Language and Bilingual Education. Additional qualifications include cultural understanding of the language groups that the program will be offered.

DUTIES :

Curriculum committees will work directly with the Division of Multilingual Education and/or curriculum administrators. Committees must complete a variety of assignments within a required time frame. Assignments include but are not limited to the development of lessons that support and facilitate the acquisition of student's home language.

APPOINTMENT :

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.

SALARY : Committee members will be paid at the contractual rate.
