POSITION SUMMARY:
Through the implementation of innovative and research best practices, the Pre-K Instructional Support Specialist supports curriculum & instructional initiatives for preschool (3-year olds) and Pre-K classrooms (4-year olds) to ensure a high quality early learning program at Whitefoord Early Learning Center. The Specialist also assists with planning and implementing professional development, student assessment processes and initiating, supporting, and monitoring the referral and Response to Intervention/Student Support Team process for Pre-Kindergarten
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Provides assistance, guidance and support to assigned early learning teachers to ensure high levels of student achievement, improved instruction, and a smooth transition for students between classrooms/schools
• Conducts instructional audits and makes recommendations for appropriate remediation and improvement
• Monitors assigned early learning program to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
• Plans, coordinates and evaluates staff professional development regarding effective instructional strategies to support student learning
• Conducts on-going Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) meetings to improve student achievement
• Analyzes data to improve instruction and model instructional strategies that promote student achievement.
• Supports and promotes the vision and mission of the district, assists in the implementation of the District's strategic goals, and develops and implements long and short-term strategic plans consistent with the District's vision and mission
• Recommends and selects early learning resources/strategies, and assists with the use and ordering of resources, including maintaining appropriate records and documentation of inventory
• Collaborates with Special Education, Head Start and APS Early Learning Department to support and oversee the referral process for Pre-Kindergarten
• Maintains a working relationship with external partners, including Whitefoord Inc., and other schools within the assigned cluster to support the integration of early learning programs; serves as a liaison to parents, business partners and organizations to promote early learning
• Creates and sustains a positive and collaborative environment for early learning staff, and models standards for positive and supportive relationships necessary in a collaborative organization
• Communicates school programs and policies to the community
• Works closely with and assists district leadership in the planning, coordination and implementation of early learning initiatives
• Assists teachers and school administrators with planning and implementing a rich language and literacy development program and a well-developed foundational numeracy skills program in Pre-Kindergarten
• Provides support with monitoring of Georgia Early Learning Developmental Standards implementation and collection of student learning objectives and work sampling on-line data
• Monitors and ensures that Bright from the Start and Head Start program requirements are implemented
• Provides intervention strategies for teachers to assist with academic and behavioral concerns of students
• Provides input into Pre-K staff evaluations conducted by assigned APS administrator
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
• Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated
Requirements :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION:
? Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Reading or related field.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
? Must hold a valid Georgia Professional certification at a T-4 level or higher, or be eligible for a non-renewable certificate.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
? 5 years of successful teaching experience.
? Experience working with students in primary (Pre-K - 2nd) setting.
? Experience planning and implementing professional learning opportunities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Written and oral communication.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and data entry.
Leadership skills.
Strong knowledge of literacy instruction and differentiation.
Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create productive and healthy relationships.
Demonstrates strong organizational and analytical skills with outstanding attention to detail.
Deep understanding of early learning curriculum and instruction.
Knowledge of Bright from the Start program requirements.
Above-average analytical skills and attention to detail.
