COSMETOLOGY INSTRUCTOR

Essex Westford School District has an opportunity for an experienced Cosmetologist to join our Center for Technology beginning in the 2022-2023 school year!

The Cosmetology Program covers the theory and application of practical skills related to the cosmetology field. This is a Vermont State Licensed School of Cosmetology Arts and Science regulated by the Vermont State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering and overseen by the Office of Professional Regulations. This program is designed to offer applied academics in the areas of Business and Finance, Human Biology / Cosmetic Chemistry, and Language Arts. Emphasis is placed on worker traits such as customer relations, interpersonal communication, team work, initiative, reliability and professionalism, attire and other workplace readiness skills.

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

• Degree in Cosmetology, Human Services or related field, plus 4 years of directly related industry experience.
  
• VT Educator license with a Career and Technical endorsement in Health and Human Services (11-17-H1) or willingness and ability to obtain the proper VT Apprenticeship license through the mentorship program.
  
• Training and/or experience as a professional Cosmetologist. Established relationships with local area business leaders in the cosmetology industry preferred.
  
• Proven ability to teach a variety of cosmetology services. Previous instructional experience helpful.
  
• Knowledge of best practices in the cosmetology industry.
  
• Knowledge and understanding of the OSHA/VOSHA regulations governing program activities.
  
• Demonstrated dedication to continuous improvement in the areas of knowledge and professional practice.
  
• Experience working effectively with and ability to engage adolescents and/or young adults, including those at risk.
  
• - Excellent organizational and written communication skills.
