PURPOSE OF JOB
Teaches one or more subjects to students in public secondary schools by performing the
following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to
supplement presentations.
Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or
requirements of state and school.
Assigns virtual lessons and corrects assignments.
Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, records results, and issues reports to inform
parents of progress.
Keeps an attendance record.
Maintains order in the virtual classroom.
Meets with parents to discuss student progress and problems.
Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training
workshops.
Maintain a Google Classroom
Conduct daily RTI sessions for students in need of intervention.
Schedule meetings with individual students needing assistance in the specific content.
Facilitate Discussion Based Assessments (DBAs)
Maintain a Virtual Classroom
Schedule individual meetings with each students
Conduct daily class meetings with the Learning Lab students.
Send weekly progress reports to parents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from four-year college or university
Missouri State Certification in: Secondary English Language Arts
SUCCESS FACTORS
Demonstrated experience and/or training in current techniques and skills in teaching elementary
level students.
Teaching experience in urban schools.
Proficiency in various technology tools such as Microsoft Suites, Google Suites, Virtual Classrooms, Digital Curriculum and technology/curriculum integration.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The
employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach
with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must
occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Length of work year: 8 hours per day; 5 days/week; 185 work days
Benefits: Health and Dental Insurance are provided.
KCPS Defined Benefit Pension plan – mandatory 9% contribution is required from employee and
matched by KCPS; Voluntary retirement savings plans are also available.
