POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

St. Anthony School ,an excellent Catholic School in Everett MA, seeks a full-time Grade 1 teacher for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year. The position is interim until June 2022 but may be a permanent position after June 2022. The successful candidate should have a commitment to instructional best practices that support student learning and success, a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development, and must be an active Catholic with an understanding and support of Catholic urban elementary schools. Other requirements include excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well with students, colleagues, administrators, school families, parish staff, and the community.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Faith Formation
• Demonstrates leadership for the faith formation of students in daily classroom instruction.
• Demonstrates strong faith by actions and words.
• Provides quality religious instruction in the Catholic faith for all students
• Builds and strengthens the Catholic identity of St. Anthony School

Planning and Preparation for Instruction
• Shows evidence of preparation (lesson plans) based on knowledge of the subject matter, the students, and the curriculum
• Determines appropriate instructional goals and designs instruction to achieve them.
• Uses assessments effectively in planning

Classroom Management
• Implements St. Anthony School's rules for discipline and the management of student behavior.
• Creates a respectful, safe learning environment.
• Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and equitable manner consistent with Catholic values.
• Develops students' self-discipline and sense of responsibility

Instruction
• Uses St. Anthony School's approaches to instruction in reading, writing, math, science, social studies and religion.
• Uses a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and support a range of learners.
• Has students actively think about, discuss, and use ideas and skills being taught.
• Uses technology as a tool for learning.

Monitoring, Assessment, and Follow-Up
• Provides timely feedback which is of high quality and specific to each student.
• Uses assessment data to monitor student progress and develop appropriate support strategies.
• Insures students meet measurable academic achievement targets.

Professional Development
• Participates in continuous and ongoing professional development.
• Successfully completes all professional development activities as designated by Principal.
• Uses ideas and strategies from professional development in classroom instruction.

Family and Community Outreach
• Communicates with parents on a regular basis.
• Shows respect for family culture, values, and beliefs.
• Deals immediately and successfully with parent concerns.
• Develops and maintains cooperative and collaborative relationships with parents.
• Posts assignments and projects on the school website.

Additional Requirements
Prior successful teaching experience at elementary level preferred
Commitment to using technology as a tool for learning
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Active Catholic with demonstrated understanding of Catholic elementary schools
