About the Role

At GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi, 22-23 is sure to be an exciting year as we expand and move to a new, purposefully designed campus on Al Reem Island in April 2022 and welcome enrollments in Grades 6 and 7 for the first time! We are looking for an experienced English Language Learning Teacher to join our dynamic faculty and world-class school for the start of the 2022 academic year.

Salient responsibilities:

• English Language Learning support for students through various stages of the IB Primary Years Program and Middle Years Program
• Key supporter of the Teacher/ Lead Practitioner in ensuring ELL student progression and development though the provision on extra 1-1 sessions, tailoring curriculum/unit delivery, etc.
• Recording and reporting progress, areas of concern and achievements about supported students with relevant stakeholders as appropriate
• Work closely with various Learning Support teams across the school to promote WAA's principals and continuously improve its ELL students learning capabilities and academic English language standards

The successful candidate will have:

• A minimum of 2 years of solid and demonstrable experience teaching ELL within a high performing department, ideal in an IB curriculum school
• A certified professional teaching qualification, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent specializing in EAL, ELL or similar
• Additional qualification or specialism such as a TEFL/IELTs/CELTA/Cambridge certification is an advantage
• Be well-organized and an effective communicator to be able to influence students, parents, teachers and school leaders
• The desire to provide outstanding teaching and learning
• An aspiration to work in a world-class school with real prospects for enhancing their career
