Job Description:
Blake School seeks a full-time Associate Director of Admissions who will help lead the Blake
admissions team and oversee all aspects of Grades 6-12 admission. The ideal candidate will have
experience working in and fostering a diverse and supportive community committed to pluralism, a
common set of values, and preparing students for purposeful lives as community and global citizens.
Admissions Office:
The goal of the Blake Admissions Office is to articulate and animate the school's mission,
commitment to pluralism and values to prospective students and families. We attract and enroll a
diverse group of talented students who benefit from and contribute to the school's educational
community. A total of seven admissions professionals serve the school by enrolling well-qualified
students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12 and managing the re-enrollment process for returning
students. In addition, the office strategically manages financial assistance to provide access for
qualified students to attend Blake whose families cannot afford full tuition. The office also ensures
sufficient tuition revenue for the school to meet its budgetary needs.
Blake's enrolls 1,366 students from grades PK-12. The Admissions Office enrolls about 175 new
students each year, most at Grades PK, K, 6 and 9 entry points.
The Associate Director of Admissions Role:
The Associate Director of Admission assists the program director in managing the work of the
admissions team and directly supervises the work of the communications and event specialist. The
Associate Director of Admission coordinates admission to Grades 6-12 and carries out other work
that supports admission and enrollment efforts for all grades. Specific admissions projects and
initiatives, such as managing Blake's student ambassador program, are also the Associate Director's responsibility.
The work of coordinating Grades 6-12 admissions requires an experienced professional who can
deftly manage the admission process for families seeking entrance to Blake's Middle School and
Upper School, from the inquiry stage to potential enrollment. This person will proactively recruit
students through work with local feeder schools, public schools and charter schools, including the
use of niche efforts for students especially interested in athletics, the arts or other specific Blake
programs.
The Associate Director collaborates with the office's event coordinator to plan events for prospective
Middle School and Upper School families and with the office's Tour Coordinator to manage Middle
School and Upper School tours. The Associate Director will be skilled at developing strong
relationships with Middle and Upper School faculty and administrators to form partnerships,
accomplish well-staffed and executed events, arrange excellent classroom visits by prospective
students, and ensure visible faculty engagement in the Middle and Upper School admissions effort.
