Position at IDEA Public Schools

Role Mission: The Camp Health Aide is primarily responsible for providing health services to campers and maintaining accurate files. The camp health aide is also responsible for promoting health education and preventative health practices for campers. All clinic staff report directly to the Camp Operations Manager. All medical and compliance for the district is directed to the Director of Health Services.

Accountabilities:

Responsible for Camper health.
  • Respond to calls for nurse assistance
  • Monitor campers who come to nurse station for aide
  • Render first aide when necessary
  • Determine when higher medical aid is required


Maintain an 85% (or higher) employee retention rate for the Camp team by.

  • Participate in weekly employee huddles by active listening on topics presented by the managers
  • Understand the importance of showing up for their scheduled shifts. When not able, calls the manager with ample time as allow alternate plans to be created
  • Ensure team is acting with utmost respect to one another, report any potential issues to Operations Manager
  • Report any safety hazards quickly to the managers so they can be addressed for repair or reported to the Operations Manager
  • Address and help resolve employee conflict quickly
  • Ask questions or requests additional training as needed to continue own growth and development
  • 85% (13/15) of Camp Rio year round staff members on staff as of July 1, 2021 will return to IDEA Public Schools for the 22-23 school year.


Maintain accurate Records.
  • Record all visit by campers to the nurse station in the nurse log.
  • Keep and maintain records of all trainings given to staff.
  • Keep Records of all external trainings performed by staff (i.e., first aid, CPR, and AED classes)
  • Keep all records in accordance with district poilices

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED (required)
  • Certified as a Nursing Assistant (CNA), a Registered Medical Assistants (RMA) or EMT/Paramedic (required)
  • Current certification in CPR/AED/ First Aid (required)
  • Certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services to conduct vision, hearing, spinal, and AN screenings (preferred)


Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience working with children of all ages
  • Ability to work well with a team, as well as be counted on to complete independent tasks as necessary
  • Must possess an understanding of computer systems including Microsoft Suite, accounting procedures, and good business practices.
