The Director of Professional Development will expand and oversee the professional learning programs and initiatives associated with employee development system wide. The Director will assess needs and design, deliver and evaluate professional development programs that align with the Districts strategic goals for all employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop key strategies, vision, and standard operating procedures for the professional department for classified and certified employees.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor employee performance appraisal systems, including Professional Development Success Plans for employees throughout the district.
  • Work closely with the Curriculum and Instruction team in developing quality and aligned professional development programs for instructional staff that support educator effectiveness and student achievement in all grades and content areas.
  • Manages student teacher program including the cultivation of relationships with teacher preparation programs, pairing of all student teachers with effective teachers and coordination with the recruitment and staffing team for early hiring of successful student teachers.
  • Manage and development leadership initiatives including New Principal Mentors, National Board certification, District Teacher of the Year, New Teacher Orientation, etc..
  • Provide data driven recommendations to strengthen professional development of all segments of employees.
  • Develops professional learning support structures, including ongoing sessions on professional learning design and facilitation, design laboratories, and consultancy.
  • Plan, lead, and facilitate a variety of professional learning experiences for personnel throughout the district as needed.
  • Helps manage the analysis and presentation of data and progress of data-driven initiatives for the senior leadership team and external audiences; communicates progress to key stakeholder groups; and incorporates their input.
  • Keep abreast of national, state, and local educational issue and trends as it relates professional development.
  • Prepares and presents reports for the Chief Academic and Accountability Officer (CAAO) (board agenda items) and possibly to the BCS Board of Education, the Superintendent, and other groups for the purpose of gaining required approvals, providing progress updates, and advising of other relevant Information.
  • Manage the PowerSchool PD evaluation platform for all employees.
  • Develop, direct and evaluate new teacher, administrator and hiring manager induction programs.
  • Use current technology for instruction and management purposes.
  • Help recruiting and hiring practices, from job description development through onboarding and offboarding, to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Ensure that BCS's core values and mission are woven into trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
