The Role

School Counselors are a part of our Multi-Tiered Student Supports (MTSS) team and develop, manage and deliver a comprehensive school counseling program. The role also collaborates with the school leadership team to ensure the implementation of a successful program. School Counselors report to the network Director of Student Support.

Responsibilities

    • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students
    • Assist all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic and personal/social skills, goals and plans
    • Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs
    • Implement an effective referral and follow-up process
    • Accurately and appropriately use assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling services
    • Monitor student academic performance, behavior and attendance and assists with appropriate interventions
    • Leading testing coordination for MAP and middle school admission test(s)
    • Leading professional development for staff on student support tools
    • Counsel with colleagues, students and/or parents on a regular basis
    • Adhere to laws, policies, procedures and ethical standards of the counseling profession
    • Support in building classroom community and relationships with families, participating in a powerful team that ensures all students make outstanding academic progress
    • Commits to constant professional and personal growth through reflection, feedback, and collaboration
    • Models MSS' Path to Success skills and supports the development of those skills in students and peers
    • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Educational Background and Work Experience

    • Licensed Master's of School Counseling (Elementary)
    • A minimum of two years of licensed experience in student services, social services or related position
    • Experience in educational setting with a focus on improving student performance

The salary for this position will likely range between $42,000-60,00 and will be offered commensurate with experience. Additionally, Meeting Street Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package.
