  • DEFINITION: Under close supervision, provides a safe environment for children to play during Parent meetings and other District community events. In the Preschool Program this position will be responsible for assisting a classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of children.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    TASKS:
    Helps to maintain the health, safety and welfare of all children being cared for; participates is keeping classroom and playground areas clean and sanitary; prepare materials for classroom activities; supervises children during outdoor playtime and nap time; supervises and participates in classroom activities; distributes snacks; assists children with personal hygiene such as bathroom use and hand washing; relates concerns to appropriate District staff regarding children; communicates positively to parents; interacts with the children in a positive manner; performs other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
    Knowledge of Mandatory CPS Reporting Law
    Knowledge in CPR and First Aid
    Knowledge of District and Department policies and procedures.
    Skill in monitoring and assisting children.
    Skill in handling difficult situations with parents or guardians.
    Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, and vision to monitor, may require some lifting.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High School Diploma or equivalent.
    CPR/First Aid certification.
    Must have fingerprint and background check on file with Human Resources Department.

    Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.

    Salary Grade: 5 Hourly Pay: $12.80Hours per Day: 7.5 Days in Contract: 189 Start Date: Temporary 2021/2022 School Year
