The Career Academy Coordinator will support Career and Technical Education (CTE) Academies. Provide and coordinate career development services for students participating in the school-based academy program. Develop and facilitate relationships with business/industry, postsecondary institutions, community organizations and parents to support students' transition to postsecondary education and employment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Serve as the liaison between the school, Director of Post-Secondary Readiness, & Career Academy Program Specialist;
  • Assist with development of consistent Academy standards;
  • Assist with media relations, marketing materials, advisory boards, and general outreach as it relates to the Career Academies;
  • Assist with grant applications related to college and career readiness; Plan, conduct, and/or coordinate professional development for school staff;
  • Work with and support teachers to ensure that the academy curriculum is followed and ascertain their instructional needs;
  • Participate in meetings related to college and career readiness, as needed; Collect and analyze career academy data;
  • Serve as a liaison to school staff to ensure that the Academies are implemented and that the programs of study are followed;
  • Assist school administration with academy scheduling and staffing;
  • Monitor and evaluate the academic progress of students in the academies and work with the appropriate staff to develop interventions;
  • Monitor, report, & record in the state portal or SIS students earning a CCR through attainment of an industry credential or dual enrollment.
  • Plan career opportunities for students such as guest speakers, field trips, job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and other experiential opportunities in collaboration with school staff, Director of PSR, and Academy Program Specialist.
  • Assist with monitoring students engaged in experiential learning opportunities.
  • Assist with the planning of and implementation of vertical articulation activities with middle schools; Work with the School s Counseling Department to ensure that a strong system of advisement is in place to support the school's academies and assisting with meeting the needs of students for career awareness, career assessment, career exploration, and career preparation;
  • Serve as a liaison to the community regarding the high school academies; and assist with investigating and securing business partnerships and additional program resources, as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
