Overall Purpose
The job of EHS-HS FEPS is done for the purpose/s of brokering family services to center-based families, tracking attendance and reasons for absences, bridging the home/school learning environments, documenting family goals, tracking progress, brokering services toward family goals, and overseeing and ensuring timely communication w/center-based parents and child development specialists; translating program documents; interpreting during meetings, appointments, etc .

Essential Functions
  • Assists families and in the classroom as needed for the purpose of providing a smooth transition for children who have become age-eligible to move into the EHS, HS, or post-Head Start classroom.
  • Coordinates a variety of meetings and family engagement activities (parent training, program events, parent committee meetings, family goal setting, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Develops a variety of reports (daily, monthly, quarterly, and annually, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring services provided for children and families.
  • Engages families to participate in various available programs (EHS/HS services, etc.) for the purpose of making positive gains in child development, family self-sufficiency, and accomplishment of family goals.
  • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (child and family records, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference while complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Monitors child and family case management (physical health, nutrition, mental health, early childhood education, safety to families, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring documentation of child and family case management meets program and governmental requirements.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars (staffing meetings, staff development, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares a variety of materials (reports, letters, memos, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Responds to inquiries (parents, EHS/HS staff, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, facilitating communication among parties, and/or providing information or directions.
  • Conducts home visits for the purpose of coordinating or supporting family services needs.
  • Communicates with local Social Service Agencies for the purpose of referrals for families to address family goals and needs

  • Skills-based Competencies
Required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and planning and managing projects.

  • Knowledge-based Competencies
Required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: child and adult learning principles; and best social work practices.

Required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; networking and facilitating communications; motivating others; and developing and implementing effective conflict resolution.

Requirements
Credential or certification in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling or a related field
Bachelor's degree preferred
Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish preferred
Valid Georgia Driver's License

Physical Requirements
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing.
