Note: We also have an opening for a temporary contractor role (full-time hours through June 2022) with duties very similar to those outlined for this position.

About T his R ole ...
This position plays an important role in connecting Marketing with Product Management, Sales, Delivery, and Policy and Advocacy in the State Solutions Division . You will report to the Sr. Director of Marketing , State Solutions . State Solutions s ales are highly consultative and conducted via a process culminating in responses to Request s for Proposal s (RFP s ).
You will focus on planning and executing compelling marketing and communications activities that educate and influence the market, engage key stakeholders and decision makers, and elevate the organization's profile in the state space . You will also play a key role in supporting the organization's policy and advocacy strategies by contributing to the development of external stakeholder engagement and thought leadership efforts.

Your N ext C hallenge ...
  • Develop and execute marketing and communications plans for State Solutions and NWEA P olicy and A dvocacy initiatives.
  • Synthesize market intelligence and be an expert on the target market for the solutions, including market problems and buying criteria.
  • Engage closely with Product Management to become an expert on solutions, features, and roadmap s ; includes regular engagement in activities and special teams . Share partner feedback to inform solution ideation and development.
  • D evelop messaging and write content for marketing collateral ( such as fact sheets, case studies, brochures) , videos, and web pages.
  • Create pitch decks, FAQs, talking points, and more to support the sales team in clearly communicating solution positioning/messaging.
  • Partner with Creative Department and/or third parties on design/formatting of materials and development of graphics and animation.
  • Manage and contribute to the implementation of webinars, virtual and in-person e vents, digital advertising, and other marketing activities , including coordinating tasks with the project team that supports these efforts.
  • Partner with Policy and Advocacy team to establish and maintain the Policy and Advocacy blog . Ensure varied internal and external authorship, high-quality content, and on-time execution ; execute tactics to drive readership.
  • Maintain and expand thought leadership and external stakeholder relations programs, including integration at the Enterprise level ; potential coordination of stakeholder tours and/or convenings; development of blogs, bylines, emails, presentations, and scripts ; and facilitation of efforts to secure speaking opportunities.
  • Execute strategic communications deliverables included as part of contract agreements and best practices with state department of education partners . Partner ing with the Delivery team , provid e communications counsel and develop collateral to help facilitate successful rollout and support for solutions . Provide incident communications support for state partners.
  • Partner with Professional Learning to develop and help facilitate communications plans that support successful engagement in statewide professional learning offerings designed to support the use of assessment data to improve student learning.
  • Coordinate and support State Solutions Division internal communications and partner with e nterprise communications on org-wide internal communications initiatives.
  • Build a nd maintain a dashboard for tracking marketing a nd communications a ctivities and metrics , accounting for a range of outputs and outcomes that can be drawn from to inform next steps and support reporting requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience working as a product marketing manager , especially in connection wi th configurable or custom solutions and/ or services
  • Demonstrated external strategic communications experience , including development and execution of communications plans featuring thought leadership and external stakeholder or analyst relations strategies
  • Skilled in partnering with Creative teams to guide the development of visuals that communicate complex concepts
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Independent learner who takes initiative and is driven to go above and beyond
  • Strategic , critical thinker with strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to synthesize technical, complex information
  • Experience working across multiple teams and departments
  • Understanding of and passion for the K-12 education space
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative policies and challenges impacting districts and state departments of education
  • Experience with small target market and/or the public sector
  • Experience working in K-12 assessment, technology services , and /or software markets a plus
  • Experience or certification in Pragmatic Marketing a plus
  • Community engagement and/or not-for-profit experience a plus
Education and E xperience ...
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in English, communications, public relations, marketing, or related field
  • Minimum seven years ' experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or related fiel d , including at least two years' experience in product marketing
