Director of Special Projects to the Chief Operating Officer

DREAM (formerly known as Harlem RBI), an innovative educational and youth development organization, is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Director of Special Projects to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for its network of rigorous PK-12 public charter schools and out-of-school time programs. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Special Projects is responsible for the direction, planning, and project management of initiatives in a variety of areas including but not limited to talent initiatives, operational excellence, COVID response, strategic planning, and growth.

The ideal candidate comes with a charter school network operations or talent background and is a results-oriented team player who is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done through proactive problem-solving and the ability to adapt and succeed within changing and challenging circumstances. They demonstrate an exceptional ability to design systems and ensure implementation across multiple stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional project manager with strong interpersonal skills to lead a diverse array of critical network initiatives and projects in close partnership with network and school leaders, and shape the operational vision for DREAM's growing network of schools and programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Lead specific initiatives and teams, as needed, to meet DREAM's talent, operations, and student recruitment needs
    • Support with the execution of leave plans, including leading Student Recruitment while the Director of Student Recruitment is on leave (spring 2022)
    • Plan and prepare materials for internal and external meetings or presentations and facilitate meetings as needed;
    • Collaborate with organization leaders to develop, operationalize, and coordinate projects in need of additional capacity;
    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and make recommendations on core initiatives and special projects;
    • Develop and refine strategy documents and presentations for a variety of audiences;
    • Plan, oversee, and lead projects from ideation through to completion to ensure work stays on track and is done at a high level;
    • Provide high-level strategic visioning and project management for charter applications and growth planning.


Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree required;
    • Charter leader network or school-based operations or talent experience preferred;
    • Ability to create and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency;
    • Demonstrated exceptional project management skills;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    • Extremely detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to meet tight deadlines;
    • Highly resourceful with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve issues;
    • A positive, upbeat attitude, solutions-orientation, and high level of flexibility;
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies;
