PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for the office management of the Communications Department and project support and coordination of special events, Meeting Notifications, and Social Media/Publicity Postings.

REPORTS TO: Director, Communications
SALARY SCHEDULE: G-8
WORK DAYS: 250

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Education Level: Associates Degree from an accredited college or university
Preferred: Post-secondary coursework with Communications, Public Relations, or Business Administration emphasis; Bachelor's degree with coursework in Communications, Public Relations, Project Management, or related areas
  1. Experience, Skill, and Certification:
  • Two years Project/Office Management experience
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software programs
  • Proficiency in the use of standard business office equipment
  • Proficiency in navigating/working with digital, web-based mediums
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once with acute attention to detail
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to make sound and reasonable recommendations and decisions
  • Strong computer skills, including data entry, copy editing, speed, accuracy, with competency in typical office software products
  • Ability to work with managers and other employees on a variety of projects that require effective level of customer service and professionalism
  • Strong writing and organizational skills
Preferred:
  • Ability to operate digital editing and/or video recording equipment
  • Social Media Communications Experience
Essential Duties:
  1. Screen and direct phone calls as appropriate.
  2. Responds to stakeholder inquiries for information by phone, email, or in person.
  3. Assists with communications related functions including, but not limited to, event management, special projects, and the production/dissemination of informational material and communication campaign content.
  4. Posts press releases, district news, event notices, and SCCPSS related information across all social media platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, You Tube, and
  5. Ensures meeting notifications are posted in accordance with Georgia Open Meeting law.
  6. Enters approved purchase orders, orders materials (secure best price), receives materials, follows-up on back orders, and disburses materials to proper department. Tracks purchase orders by entering and recording all transactions and disbursements to proper expenditure accounts.
  1. Assists the Director of Communications with the planning and management of major projects related to Community Engagement, providing positive visibility, and building effective community support.
  2. Coordinate assigned district Community Engagement activities, ensuring community support for school board and school system initiatives.
  3. Coordinate all Volunteer activities through the SCCPSS volunteer portal
  4. Work directly with all facets of the community, such as PTAs, business partners, faith-based organizations, and families ensure positive communication between the school system and its stake holders.
  5. Coordinate assigned visual, media-based initiatives and multimedia presentations, including support for board meetings, development of web-casting opportunities, and editing video presentations.
  6. Develop, coordinate, and publish public relations print materials in support of the mission of the school district.
  7. Maintains appropriate, professional relationships with other professional offices.
  8. Maintains confidentiality of information.
  9. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Incumbents will be considered "at will." Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade 8 of the Classified hourly scale and allowable experience as determined by Human Resources. This is a 250-day position. (Non- Exempt). Rev. 11-2021
