Job Description

Director, Custodial & Warehouse Services

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE

Under limited supervision, assist with planning, developing, and administering the district-wide custodial program to achieve and maintain appropriate level of housekeeping, cleanliness, and sanitation. Responsibilities also include overseeing warehouse/logistics for district wide delivery of new/used furniture, surplus, textbooks, maintenance repair parts, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Collaborates with the CO, CPO of Facilities, Director of Maintenance Operations, Director of Maintenance Administration, Director of Energy Management, Property Managers, and other WS/FCS school administrators, staff, and non-WS/FCS persons and/or entities to promote the best K-12 facilities management practices.

•Implements and manages the solid waste and recycling contract for the school district.

•Establishes an efficient custodial organization which focuses on quality customer service with timely responses and resolutions.

•Directs the system-wide custodial services effort to ensure that custodial needs are met, and OSHA standards are maintained by custodial staff.

•Develops and oversees the custodial allocations for the district.

•Develops training for custodial staff on job functions and hazards of the workplace.

•Supervises Custodial Area Leads to ensure all district custodial operations are being met.

•Provides oversite of the Warehouse Manager in coordinating the receipt, stocking, and distribution of parts inventory for the Maintenance Department to ensure accurate inventory accountability.

•Supervises Warehouse department operations and staff.

•Develop, plan, organize, and conduct training sessions for custodians in proper equipment use, chemical use, and safety, proper response to emergency situations, proper cleaning methods, and troubleshooting.

•Assists with developing, planning, and responding to emergencies relating to facility damage and organizing site custodial staff to handle the situation.

•Oversees contracts issued in support of cleaning carpets, windows, gym floors, school stages, etc., as well as preparing required routine reports.

•Meets with vendors to discuss custodial/warehouse products, research and test products and cost analysis.

•Ensures the appropriate documentation is created to support each project and the necessary auditing update entries are made to the documentations. Review appropriate documentation for accuracy and timeliness.

•Ensures parts storage area is organized and maintained in a safe and clean fashion.

•Oversees district-wide custodial operations and capital needs budget.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

•Knowledge of principles and practices of administration with emphasis in organization, fiscal management, and budgetary control.

•Knowledge of principles, methods and practices of school system personnel, finance and budget policies.

•Knowledge of state laws related to fiscal control and budgetary guidelines.

•Knowledge of principles of budget planning and scheduling.

•Knowledge of district personnel rules, regulations, practices and policies.

•Knowledge of principles methods and practices of change management or continuous improvement methodologies.

•Knowledge and ability to implement best practices to conduct facilities operations in strong alignment with the District's Strategic Plan.

•Knowledge and ability to demonstrate sensitivity for diverse populations, strong ethics, and recognition for team and individual accomplishment, and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

•Ability to utilize data, metrics, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to continuously improve customer deliverables and health inspection aligned responsibilities.

•Ability to work effectively and diplomatically and maintain good relations with a wide variety of individuals and groups.

•Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions and project consequences of proposed actions.

•Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

•Ability to manage performance effectively with a significant, diverse multi-cultural staff.

•Ability to collaborate with Learning Communities and various departments to improve customer service expectations and work management efficiencies.

•Ability to provide quality product and services with measurable results.

Job Qualification

Pay Grade - Director I | Full-Time | 12 Months | Minimum Annual Salary $69,840

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

•Minimum: Associates Degree in Business Administration, Global Logistics & Distribution Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field and ten years of custodial, logistics, or facility management experience including four years' at the supervisory level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Desirable: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Logistics Management, or related field and seven years' related work experience including three years supervisory experience.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

•Must hold or obtain within three years of employment - Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP).

•Possession of a valid NC driver's license
