Job Summary
Advanced level professional accounting and auditing work related to Federal program accounting. Reviews and monitors appropriate financial records to include Annual Financial Report, Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and other financial reporting to aid School Board financial decision making.
Essential Functions
Depending upon the specific position, incumbents may perform some or all of the functions in the section below. Percentage of time spent performing essential functions may vary across positions.
- Analyzes, verifies, troubleshoots, and reconciles general ledger accounts.
- Establishes, maintains, and audits financial records, accounts, ledgers, and journals
- Prepares complex, non-routine financial statements.
- Completes or assists in completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Ensures appropriateness of expenditures for grants and entitlements and monitors budgets.
- Composes correspondence; responds to inquiries from principals, administrators, auditors, customers, vendors, project managers, and other District employees regarding accounting related problems.
- Develops new and modified accounting procedures.
- Trains, schedules, assigns, monitors, and reviews the work of assigned entry level personnel and technical and clerical accounting employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration, with emphasis in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration, with emphasis in Accounting from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Extensive knowledge of State and Federal Grant programs
- Extensive knowledge of accounting practices, principles, and -policies
- Knowledge of governmental accounting and public school administration
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Reporting
- Knowledge of fund and governmental fund reporting presentation using modified and full accrual methods
- Knowledge of balance sheets, statement of revenues, expenditures, changes in fund balances, and cash flow statements
- Knowledge of financial reporting accounting practices, principles, and policies
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong word processing and spreadsheet software skills
- Strong general ledger account reconciliation skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to determine source of general ledger expenditure discrepancies and potential solutions
- Ability to oversee, monitor, guide, and review the work of others
