Senior Project Manager, Product Management
Position summary As a Senior Project Manager within the District Product Strategy team, you will be responsible for planning and managing cross- functional projects that are part of the District Product Strategy roadmap and programs. In addition, you should be well versed in project management practices and standards and be comfortable working with others to implement those standards. This position will also demonstrate those capabilities directly through the projects that this position will manage. This is a full-time opportunity with competitive compensation and an outstanding benefits package. Candidates may work remotely from any location within the U.S.

Responsibilities
  • Manage large, enterprise-wide projects through the project management life cycle as assigned, in support of program objectives.
  • Provide leadership to and facilitate the work of cross-functional project teams by clarifying project objectives and defining tactics necessary to accomplish these objectives.
  • Establish structure of the project, including identification and allocation of resources and creation of project plans; ensure that plans receive appropriate review, authorization, and funding.
  • Development of project budgets and integration of project costs into the organization-level budget and financial forecast.
  • Track project activity and expenditures against plans; communicate effectively through multiple channels to sponsors and key stakeholders; manage external delivery partners where required.
  • Continuously assess project risk factors and recommend courses of action to mitigate risk.
  • Lead and participate in developing, maintaining, and evolving standards, tools, templates and documented processes for process improvement and project governance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the organization.
  • Assist teams in evaluating and establishing their capacity to inform project plans as needed.
  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and governance or project management best practices across all Program Managers and Project Managers at NWEA.
  • Lead and participate in developing, maintaining, and evolving standards, tools, templates and documented processes for process improvement and project governance.
  • Assist Program and Project Managers throughout the company with implementing standard practices on their projects.

Education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or similar discipline required; advanced degree, professional certifications, or equivalent work experience strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum five years of practical project and program delivery experience in program/project management with demonstrated results.
  • Strong preference for experience in the test assessment K-12 education industry
  • Strong technical skills and business acumen.
  • Experience in vendor relations and contract negotiations for program/project outsourced services and products.
  • Extensive project management process and process improvement experience including project prioritization, estimating, project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk, and issue management.
  • PMP certification, Agile certifications desired and data-driven web applications highly desirable.
