Associate DevOps Engineer
Position summary
Associate DevOps Engineers are members of the Product Operations team at NWEA, a high-functioning team of creative, collaborative, motivated, and professional individuals driven by the singular mission of partnering to help all kids learn. As an Associate DevOps Engineer, you will design, build and manage a world-class infrastructure to support NWEA's products and mission. Our team consists of forward-thinking individuals who want to disrupt the traditional mold through progressive design and implementation practices.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains current knowledge of the latest trends in technologies leveraged by the organization
  • Understands appropriate use of those technologies in the organization
  • Provide accurate time estimates for tasks
  • Participate in continuous integration efforts and Agile software development processes to support regular software releases for our SaaS platform
  • Ensure that security is built into both the process and tools
  • Communicate plans, status, and issues your leadership
  • Perform system audits, document findings, and publish recommendations
  • Working towards being available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as needed to support our on-call rotation
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the entire organization

Education and experience
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 1-2 years related experience in Linux Systems Administration
  • Exposure to operational tools used for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of infrastructure and systems
  • Exposure to and understanding of VM virtualization
  • Exposure to CI/CD processes and methods especially in the cloud with Atlassian tool sets
  • Exposure to configuration management tools
  • Experience or exposure to automating the Linux environments using Nodejs, Python, HTML, Shell or Ruby.
  • Experience or exposure with the following is a plus:
  • Designing cloud infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and highly available in the cloud
  • Developing and maintaining infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Building and maintaining AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, Security Groups, IAM, ECS, CloudFront, S3)
