Student Information Systems Data Analyst

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE

The purpose of this position to standardize consistent data and monitor overall data quality by generating and compiling reports based on findings then recommending improvements to business processes, operational procedures, and corresponding reporting structures utilizing PowerSchool.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Provide training and support to schools and other users using student data information systems as well as other software or applications where data is managed within the district.

•Support Data Managers, Registrars, and Administrators to troubleshoot issues and provide solutions.

•Develop routines and procedures for end-users to facilitate best practices use of reporting tools and applications.

•Monitor and provide support to accurately submit and meet the deadlines for State Reporting requirements.

•Provide training and support for all facets of scheduling including Courses, Teachers, Students to successfully produce a Master Schedule for every school.

•Identify causes of poor data quality, implement solutions, and communicate findings to supervisor and fellow Data Team members. Develop and enforce methods and validation mechanisms for ensuring data quality and accuracy at the point of entry.

•Maintain user access and security for employees using student information systems software; to include but not limited to adding new users, transferring, or changing user permissions, deleting users, or adding user administrators.

•Support Data Managers, Registrars and Administrators to troubleshoot issues and provide solutions.

•Identify causes of poor data quality, implement solutions, and communicate findings to supervisor and fellow Data Team members. Develop and enforce methods and validation mechanisms for ensuring data quality and accuracy at the point of entry

•Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

•Proven experience with database query/reporting tools, software, and the applications used by end users in the daily operation of school business.

•Ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software to resolve issues for end-user.

•Ability to understand relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.

•Proficiency utilizing Student Information Systems with high degree of accuracy.

•Knowledge of building and maintaining school schedules pertaining to the classes, courses, and daily issues associated with students in all levels of school.

•Knowledge of MS and HS processes and procedures in PowerSchool.

•Knowledge of PowerTeacher information program where all student grade and assessment information is stored and reported.

•Knowledge of Policies and Procedures on how student information can be stored or shared.

•Ability to communicate effectively using listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

•Ability to analyze and understand organizational goals and objectives.

Job Qualification

Pay Grade OSS2 | Full-Time | 12 Months| Minimum Annual Salary $51,945

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

•Minimum: Associates Degree or comparable 2-year professional certificate in related field PLUS two years' work experience in school Data Manager or similar position.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

•PowerSchool Certification in Scheduler and Instant Productivity

•IPT Certification required or obtained within the first year in the SIS Off
