The Program Coordinator, Credit Recovery will support the Senior Program Manager, Student Promotion in realizing the district's Credit Recovery strategic vision.

The core responsibilities of the role include:
  • Collaborate with the Office of Teaching and Learning and other Chicago Public Schools offices and departments, administrators, and school-based staff to support and ensure successful implementation of Credit Recovery programs.
  • Coordinate with external agencies to support innovative practices in Credit Recovery.
  • Manage relationships and communications with Networks and school leaders to ensure clear messaging around program implementation.
  • Develop and present weekly implementation reports to the Senior Manager based on enrollment, attendance, focus groups, site visits and other program metrics.
  • Develop and present executive reports to track data and impact on student achievement.
  • Provide ongoing support for school site implementation, including teacher coaching and training.
  • Provide support for the district's equitable grading practices and policies.
  • Modeling the routine, intentional and effective use of technology in daily work, including communications, organization and management tasks.
  • Perform additional work duties as needed.


In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Credit Recovery Program Coordinator must possess the following qualifications:

Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience Required:
  • Minimum of three (3)years of experience coordinating programs and analyzing program data.
  • Experience in urban education or related field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • As a representative of the Chicago Public Schools, ability to demonstrate a keen awareness of the moral imperative to work in the best interest of all children.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Understand the complexity and variety of challenges facing urban students.
  • Ability to effectively assist in planning and organizing program operational duties.
  • Knowledge of district policies and procedures.
  • Ability to define problems, analyze data, and outline valid conclusions and action steps.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong service and support orientation towards schools and school communities.
  • Support and align to strategic planning processes and project management principles.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.


Residency Requirement:

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
