SUMMARY

Under the leadership of the Deputy Superintendent and the Associate Superintendent for School Leadership and Instruction (Pre-K-12) Administration, the Executive Director will assist in handling responsibilities related to educational leadership; researches, writes, edits and reviews correspondence and prepares reports for the Deputy and Associate Superintendent; collects and analyzes data to inform education decisions and best practices; provides support and assistance to associates and other staff reporting to the Deputy and the Associate Superintendent aligning work to the school system goals, strategic planning and major initiatives and provides formative and summative evaluations of principals as directed by the Deputy and Associate Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as a member of the Superintendent's Executive Leadership Team.
  • Assists the Deputy Superintendent and the Associate Superintendent for School Leadership and Instruction (Pre-K-12) Administration in the development of objectives for the Division of Curriculum and Instruction consistent with the stated goals of the School Board and Superintendent.
  • Advises and assists principals on School Improvement and application of Effective School Research at the building site.
  • Makes recommendations to the Deputy Superintendent and the Associate Superintendent for School Leadership (Pre-K-12) Administration on matters of curriculum equality, resource and instructional equity, monitoring of student performance and student attendance.
  • Coordinates elementary, middle and high school staffing in consultation with the Executive Director of Human Resources.
  • Identifies critical and emerging issues of curriculum and instruction and recommends course(s) of action to the Deputy Superintendent and the Associate Superintendent for School Leadership and Instruction (Pre-K-12) Administration.
  • Identifies staff development, in-service or training needs and makes recommendations accordingly to the Deputy Superintendent and the Associate Superintendent for School Leadership and Instruction (Pre-K-12) Administration.
  • Serves as a resource to teachers, principals, and other instructional personnel and general public regarding programs of curriculum and instruction and related educational services for elementary or middle or high/alternative school levels.
  • Provides input on policies and procedures affecting elementary or middle or high/alternative schools.
  • Provides input on and/or facilitates program evaluation for the Deputy Superintendent and the Associate Superintendent for School Leadership and Instruction (Pre-K-12) Administration.
  • Facilitates the provision of various pupil support services such as transfers, race relations, discipline, hearings, and suspensions through the Deputy Superintendent, Administers and/or facilitates the provision of social work services, health services (including school nurses), child welfare and attendance, 504/ADA, and I CARE/ADAPP through the Deputy Superintendent and the Associate Superintendent for School Leadership and Instruction (Pre-K-12) Administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in supervision or related field. Possess a Master's and/or Advanced Degree in educational leadership. Graduate study in curriculum development, supervision, and administration preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience and experience in supervising instruction required.
