General Statement of Duties

Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, December 06, 2021.
Assists in carrying out programs for persons with intellectual disabilities or chronically mentally ill clients in a permanent part-time capacity in a residential home setting; does related work as required.

Essential Duties

Provide supervision and support for persons with intellectual disabilities living in a residential home setting. This position is responsible for providing client support and supervision during the day, evening, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts; Supplementary responsibilities include daily incremental data collection, assisting with personal care and physical assistance as needed to complete tasks, medication administration and major housekeeping duties; routine and additional assigned tasks. Focus on the cleanliness of the home during the overnight shift. Duties include but are not limited to; sweeping floors, moping floors, cleaning the refrigerator, meal planning, organizing closets and pantries, disinfecting household surfaces, dusting furniture, completing laundry, and wiping down walls and baseboards of the home.

Knowledge of intellectual disabilities and/or mental illness and related problems; ability to work effectively with assigned client population; ability to carry out activities according to plans; ability to keep clear and concise notes and records; ability to demonstrate respect for clients; good interpersonal skills; patience; empathy; good judgment.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school and one (1) year of human services experience, preferably in working with persons with disabilities; OR , any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Additional Information

This is a permanent part-time position (20 hours/week) responsible for supervision in the home: Several positions will be filled from this recruitment

Shurm Heights: Saturday 10pm - 8am, Sunday 4pm - 10pm and Monday 4pm or 5pm - 8pm or 9pm.
Sherbrooke: Thursday 10pm - 8am, Saturday 4pm - 10pm and Sunday 8am - 12pm
Green Run: Friday and Saturday 10pm - 8am overnight

TB Screening and Child Abuse Registry Check required, upon hire. Obtain and maintain all required trainings at specified intervals.
CPR/First Aid, medication administration and experience with Medicaid Waiver a plus. Successful completion of Medication Administration and Therapeutic Options training required.

A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.

Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license. Requires fingerprint and criminal-records check.
