Payroll Specialist
Position
School Administrative Unit 16 is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual to handle all aspects of payroll.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ensuring appropriate approvals of time
- QA to ensure time entry accuracy in ADS
- Monitor accrued time balances
- Processes garnishments and child support orders in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Verification of coding
- Data entry
- Reconciliation of Payroll system entries to Time Sheets
- Verification of deductions
- Transmitting direct deposit files
- Printing checks
- Verification of employment
- Processes payroll allocations
- Perform other tasks and special projects as required.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be accurate, detail oriented and well organized, with good math skills. Must have good analytical skills. Must have good computer skills and be familiar with computerized payroll systems and services. He/she must have professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Qualifications Profile
Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).
- Equivalent Work experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
Experience
Payroll: 1 year (preferred)
Salary Range
$45,000-50,000
