Position Overview:

Under minimal supervision, responsible for providing campus support during weekday evenings & weekends as needed. This position will primarily focus on completing room set-ups, tear downs, room clean-up and customer service for people using the Blake campus facilities outside of the school day hours.

In addition, this position would be responsible for general cleaning & light maintenance not performed by our contracted cleaning vendor.

Hours will vary. The part-time/flex team member will post their availability one month in advance, and will work off of a confirmed schedule, based on availability that is set in advance every one-two weeks.

This position will support all three Blake campuses, including our Ice Arena on the Hopkins campus. You will remain on one campus for the duration of each shift.

Common shifts during the school week, Monday through Friday, will be between 5pm and 10pm. On Saturdays and Sundays a shift would be between 4-8 hours and scheduled between the hours of 9am and 9pm.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring meeting & event spaces are set-up according to the event set-up instructions in a timely manner.
  • Respond to requests to provide additional support for events at a moments notice
  • Support our food service vendors with set-up/clean-up of catering items as needed
  • Support security team as needed, like escorting visitors through campus
  • Responsible for ensuring meeting & event spaces are cleaned-up according to the needs of the space at the start of the next day.
  • Responsible for general cleaning & light maintenance not performed by our contracted cleaning vendor as assigned/as needed
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Campus Lead. The listing of the position duties/responsibilities is not necessarily inclusive for this position. Omission of specific duties does not preclude assignment of other duties if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to be flexible and a team player
  • Strong communications skills
  • Must be able to adapt to all working conditions and meet all physical requirements listed below

Preferred:
  • Previous events, customer service and/or custodial experience
  • Previous general maintenance of facility related experience

Working Conditions:
  • This is a customer facing role, so a positive attitude and desire to support the success of meetings & events is critical.
  • Flexible, knowing the schedule may change based on the needs of the school
  • At times you may be asked to work longer hours than scheduled to support unexpected facility emergency and events needs, as necessary
  • Required to work under adverse weather conditions and varying temperatures, assisting with exterior maintenance year round as needed (ie light snow removal)

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work safely from ladders, walk up/down stairs carrying event set-up items
  • Expect to be on your feet for the duration of each shift
  • Must possess normal vision, hearing and physical dexterity
  • Will be required to do own laboring, lift up to 40 pounds safely, and be able to transport equipment, including carts which may carry 400 pounds

Team Participation:
  • Participate as a contributing member of the Buildings & Grounds Team
  • As appropriate, give input for ways to improve procedures and policies currently in use to ensure business is conducted in a safe, responsible manner
  • Willing to assist in other areas and with other tasks not defined in position description
