Windham Southeast Supervisory Union (WSESU) is seeking a dynamic, visionary leader to become our next Superintendent of Schools. We are a district that includes eleven schools and programs serving 2,500 students in PreK-12, including Early Education Services (Head Start program), and the Windham Regional Career Center.

The WSESU is an increasingly diverse community with an ongoing commitment to social justice and anti-racism. We are looking for enthusiastic professionals to join us in furthering this work.

Nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains, the communities of southeastern Windham County represent people from across the country and world, as well as families who have been here for generations. Our student population reflects a wide-range of demographics and community values. The next Superintendent of WSESU will embrace this diversity and hold an understanding of rural school needs and challenges.

We are searching for someone who can bring innovative ideas for curriculum, culture, and community to life by engaging and inspiring others. As a recently-merged district, comprising five towns, we are seeking a leader who can balance unification while supporting and preserving each school’s unique culture. They will be aware of the challenges faced by marginalized communities, including individuals with disabilities, economically-disadvantaged students, students of color, and LGBTQ students.

Our next Superintendent will be capable of researching and communicating best practices vibrantly to administrators, educators, parents, and the broader community. A highly qualified candidate will have student achievement and well-being as a central focus. They will be able to successfully collaborate with all stakeholders and further existing efforts to create wholly inclusive school communities. They will have strong leadership skills including (but not limited to) evaluating and reporting, strategic planning, implementing and overseeing, complex problem-solving, and managing school personnel, budgets and resources. An ideal candidate will have previous experience as an educator and educational leader. They value the impact of current affairs on our student population and will advocate for practices that promote awareness and responsibility around issues such as climate crisis, equity, and social justice reform.

Salary and benefits are competitive with other Vermont school districts of similar size. The successful candidate will be eligible for or currently possess a Vermont Agency of Education license as a School Superintendent.
