Essex Westford School District is seeking full-time Lead Facility Technicians to join our team!

The Lead Facility Technician plays an essential role as a collaborative, hands-on leader in cleaning, monitoring, and maintaining the district's buildings, grounds, and physical plant. This role leads the way in supporting an environment that promotes learning, health, safety, and pride. The position will have a flexible schedule and work across the various EWSD facilities based on individual strengths and the district's needs.

Responsibilities include:
  • Perform, assign, and supervise daily cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance routines
  • Inspect the work of Facility Technicians to ensure standards and practices are followed; provides feedback, training, coaching, and guidance in standards and practices as necessary to inspire employees to perform at consistently high levels
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Facilities to ensure the needs of the building, including budget requirements, are reported, recorded, and attended to in a timely manner
  • Provide proactive support and coordination for school-based activities and community facilities use; assists and performs district safety functions
  • Assure facility repair/service needs are properly reported
  • Attend to the needs of the school grounds to ensure safety and timely upkeep
  • Play a key role in the continuous improvement of processes and practices for the Department through regular feedback, data gathering, data reporting and review

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
  • 2-3 years of relevant technical training/experience in the areas of commercial cleaning, general repair, property management, or a similar work environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of custodial/facility management principles, best practices, and related regulations and policies required.
  • Able to effectively and efficiently use computers and various software applications. Proficient with two-way radio communication systems and building management software.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of a team. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers, subordinates, supervisors, parents, and outside agencies.
  • Must hold a valid VT Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record. Additional certifications and/or licenses related to the essential role are desirable.
