Located on a beautiful 10-acre campus in the heart of Scottsdale, Devereux Arizona's 24-hour RTC and Therapeutic School, has the capacity to serve 52 children. The RTC is a safe and supportive environment that provides youth, from the ages of five to 17, who are experiencing emotional, behavioral or substance abuse challenges. We also provide an on-site accredited K-12 therapeutic school, which offers an academic curriculum while students receive intensive behavioral and emotional support.

As our instructional leader you will develop, implement and monitor the school curriculum cycle for each core academic subject aligned with homeschool districts. This position provides staff development for the implementation of evidence based curriculum standards that includes grade level and instructional level considerations. The Director of Education provides leadership in all school operations, as well as oversight over the school operations with a focus on curriculum implementation, including integration of PBIS and positive school culture, into the school environment. The Director of Education provides expertise in adapting and/or modifying curriculum and is the primary leadership for the selection of educational assessments and trains teachers in administration of assessments. This position will manage the day-to-day school operations and is responsible for teacher professional development.

The Director of Education (Principal) uses data analytics to create school wide educational progress reports that can be shared with school districts. This position is a key member of the center leadership and provides an educational voice regarding impact of decisions. The Director of Education needs to remain up to date on best practices in education and develop strong relationships with a student's home districts to maintain district standards in the educational program. This position provides budget reports, implements effective budget strategies and monitors the educational budget fully. The Director of Education develops relationships within the Arizona Dept of Education in multiple departments: Curriculum, Special Education, State Initiatives, and Certification, and with other nonprofits that award education grants. This position creates parent /foster parent education participationmodels and creates feedback mechanisms for home school districts.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education
  • AZ Principal Certification OR willingness to obtain an Emergency Principal Certification and enrollment in accredited Principal Certification Program
  • Preferred: Special Education Certificate, PHD in area of Education
  • 5 years of related experience required (teaching and/or administrator)

OTHER:

  • Valid Arizona Driver's License Or Identification
  • Pre-employment Physical and Physical Abilities Test (if applicable)
  • Ability to attend Full Time, paid, New Hire Orientation Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
  • Must be able to complete and provide proof of current influenza vaccination
  • Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate's understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children
