IEP Compliance Specialist
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide support to the Office of Specialized Instruction in overseeing the delivery and compliance of Special Education Programs. Oversee all aspects of IEP development, diagnostic assessments and Individual Education Plan (IEP) reviews. Facilitate IEP process, information exchange, preparation and scheduling for IEP Evaluation meetings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Send invitations for IEP students and open drafts.
- Informs building-based administrators of the timelines for Individual Education Plan (IEP) development, annual Case Reviews, Evaluations, Re-Evaluations, Move-In Conferences, Manifestations, Case Conferences, and Progress on Goals.
- Conducts regular IEP audits to ensure compliance with Federal and State law, as well as District Special Education policies and procedures.
- Manages the status of the Special Education Database, including updating the Special Education Placement screen daily.
- Facilitates the District's Special Education Child Count.
- Monitors Federal Special Education Indicators.
- Sends weekly compliance updates to building-based Administrators and Special Education teachers.
- Compliance hot spots (i.e. evaluation timelines, move-in conferences, etc.).
- Monitor and report out to building-based Special Education recording issues.
- Maintain communication with building-based Special Education teachers and administrators concerning compliance issues.
- Manages IEP system and permissions for Bridgeport Public Schools
- Maintains and completes reports as requested by the Executive Director of Specialized Instruction.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Social Work.
- Knowledge and understanding of School Law as it relates to Special Education students intervention strategies; and referral sources.
- Computer usage and ability to use, e-mail, internet software and word processing.
- Modern management methods and techniques.
- Interpret Special Education Policies and Procedures.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff,and outside agencies.
- Communicate effectively both orally and writing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma with Special Education experience.
- Demonstrated success in working with parents and community in a multicultural setting.
- Demonstrated success in team building and planning.
- Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
