Eastside Technical Center

Eastside Technical Center is currently seeking and interviewing qualified applicants with experience in the aviation industry to teach Flight and Aviation and/or Aircraft Maintenance Technician courses. The position would be a full-time position for the spring of 2022 with a start date of early January, and the opportunity to continue with the full-time position for the 2022-2023 school year and beyond.

Teach occupational preparatory classes within the Flight and Aviation Career Pathway that will include but not limited to; Intro to Aerospace 210226, Fundamentals of Aviation Science 210233, Unmanned Aircraft Systems 210251, Aerospace Engineering 210229; Aviation I 210237 and Aviation II 210234, Aviation Capstone 210240, Unmanned Aircraft Systems 210251, and Introduction to Aircraft Maintenance Technology 210139. In addition, the instructor will collaborate with industry leaders to develop internships and cooperative opportunities for students in the aviation industry

Description:
Teaches occupational preparatory classes within a career and technical education program; and performs other duties as required. To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

Job Summary:
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
  • Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
  • Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for instructional teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, evaluates job performance
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required
  • Maintains regular attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Must qualify for Occupation Based Kentucky Teaching Certification in the subject area to be taught: Aviation Technology
    • Four years of appropriate work experience, two years of experience completed within the last five years.
    • May be required to complete a 64 hour credit program at an approved university leading to initial teacher certification. As an employee of the Technical Center, the college course work would be compensated through the state of Kentucky.

  • Must hold a Kentucky Statement of Eligibility in the subject area to be taught: Aviation Technology, Air Craft Mechanic, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, Science and Physics

  • Must Hold the Kentucky teaching certificate in the subject area to be taught :Aviation Technology, Air Craft Mechanic, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, Science and Physics?
Special Requirements: 16 KAR 6:020 Requirement to be an Occupational Based Teacher
