DATA IMPLEMENTATION SPECIALIST

SUMMARY

The Data Implementation Specialist/Instructional Coach supports WCSD Strategic Plan through its goals and objectives relating to teacher performance and student learning. This is accomplished by providing on-site professional development to build the capacity of teachers to deliver effective instruction in the core content areas of math, ELA, science, and social studies by learning how to examine student data for differentiated instruction. The Data Implementation Specialist/Instructional Coach will be support of administration in gathering and analyzing school site data. The Data Implementation Specialist/Instructional Coach will provide professional development for teachers in areas such as differentiated instruction through use of data analysis, assessment, and progress monitoring, in response to school needs and analysis of student achievement data.

EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Implementation Specialist/Instructional Coach will support grade level and/or content area PLCs by teaching, modeling, and supporting collaborative structures; providing professional resources; assist PLCs to analyze student work and various types of data; assist in the design of interventions and the development of common assessments; provide expertise in standards-based lesson planning, and model best practices; serve as a conduit of analytical expertise as well as on-site technical assistance and professional development with student achievement data; must effectively and efficiently use Infinite Campus, BIG, and other district data reporting tools in the delivery of information to schools; must be able to clearly communicate complex information to teachers, and building administrators, and to district staff; must have a strong working knowledge of the performance management system, the alignment of standards, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and accountability, and the various instructional initiatives being used in the district to promote student achievement; and must have a strong working knowledge of Professional Learning Communities and skill at facilitating data driven discussions in a professional setting. The Data Implementation Specialist/Instructional Coach must assist District staff in the development of an evaluation report documenting the efforts of DHES which is a Priority School during the 3 years in which it will be monitored closely by the Nevada State Department of Education.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Education/Experience: Any combination of education that would provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:

1. Education: Master's Degree (or in progress) with coursework in education or related field from an accredited university;

AND

2. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years successful classroom teaching experience at the high school, middle school, or elementary school level.

OR

3. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years conducting educational research and/or teaching at the post-secondary level.

AND

4. Qualification into the Teacher Leadership Pool is required.

Knowledge of: Nevada content standards, adopted core curriculum materials and research-based instructional strategies; familiarity with formative and summative assessment strategies and designs; data analysis; effective classroom behavior management techniques; and the needs of Special Education students and English Language Learners and effective strategies for meeting those needs.

Skill at: Group facilitation and interpersonal communication both oral and written; teaching adults, including effective collaboration; organizational skills and the ability to design and implement effective professional development experiences.

Licenses/Certificates: Possession of a valid Nevada teaching certificate is recommended.

Additional Job Information:

This is a Limited Term position thru June 2022. This position is grant-funded and is contingent upon continued funding. The hiring administrator may retain incumbent for the duration of the grant without re-advertising. At the conclusion of this position, the incumbent will be eligible to participate in the exclusive transfer process and overage process in accordance with the certified negotiated agreement.

Qualification into the Teacher Leadership Pool is required. If the qualified candidate selected is not currently in the Teacher Leadership Pool, they must meet annual requirements for Site-Level Teacher Leadership Pool and qualify into the District-Level Teacher Leadership Pool within three years.

The Washoe County School District pays an additional legislatively-designated amount to the Public Employees Retirement System on behalf of the employee for retirement benefits. No retirement contribution is made by the employee.

New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and will have $58.50 deducted from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting. Fingerprint fees are subject to change.
