  • DEFINITION: Under general supervision, assists and supports the Federal Programs Office by assisting in developing and managing all Federally related and school improvement related budgets for Sunnyside Unified School District.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    TASKS:
    Assists in designing, preparing, balancing, and submitting annual Federal Program Consolidated Applications, ESSER Grants and Exceptional Education grants, compliance reports, and amendments; maintains budget balances for Title I, II and III, as well as all school improvement grant funding (e.g., RTTT; SIG, etc.) and other assigned budgets (e.g., Move On When Reading, 21 st Century, etc.), records, reconciles and requests journal entries; audits financial documents such as employee timesheets, purchase orders, etc.; develops and maintains databases to track and monitor Titles I, II and III expenditures (travel, purchases, etc.); prepares all Federal program and school improvement related amendments and compliance reports (audits, IGAs, etc.); communicates effectively (verbal and written) with school leadership and central office administrators and trains all personnel on issues pertaining to budget, staffing, financial policy and procedure related to the programming. Throughout the year, oversees spending to ensure compliance with the different budgets and grants.
    Communicates and negotiates effectively with Sunnyside departments, outside vendors, consultants and members of the Arizona Department of Education (ADE); assures that all expenditures are within Federal regulatory guidance guidelines; maintains integrity of and monitors all Personnel Action Requests (PAR) from Federal funds; responsible for managing resources and communicating with Private School leadership; generates, processes, and evaluates all requisitions for the purchase orders across all Federal programs; uses signatory power from the Director of Federal Programs to process requisitions when appropriate; compiles and prepares statistical reports required by Federal and State agencies; responds to questions and requests from school staff and parents; performs additional related duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
    Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
    Knowledge of accounting practices.
    Knowledge of Entitlement Programs (Titles I, II and III) and Federal grant requirements.
    Knowledge of database and spreadsheet software applications.
    Knowledge of iVisions or similar ERP software programs used as database for human resources, payroll, budgeting, and accounting
    Knowledge of Grants Management Enterprise (GME), General Accounting Office (GAO), Code of Federal Requirements (CFR), State of Arizona Accounting Manual (SAAM), Office of Management & Budget (OMB), and Uniform Guidance (UG)
    Skill in the use of technology (Google Docs, Google Sheets, MS Office, email, Google Slides, etc.).
    Skill in writing (e.g., internal and external correspondence, grants, reports, requests, announcements) Skill in working independently.
    Skill in efficiently managing projects.
    Skill in following oral and written instructions.
    Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, bending, repetitive motion, and attention to detail and may require some lifting.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High school diploma or equivalent required;
    Two (2) years of fiscal accounting experience preferably in a school district, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Associate or Bachelor's Degree.

    Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.

    Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.

    Position will be limited to 3 years due to funding source

    Salary Grade: 20 Hourly Pay: $20.36 Hours per Day: 8 Days in Contract: 260
