Description

The Regional Director for ALS Education is responsible for the oversight of the leadership and operational activities of principals and staff at assigned schools; and representing ALS in all board and stakeholder relationships and communication. The Regional Director ensures staff is properly trained on the organizational vitals and the critical tasks assigned to their roles.

Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership Recruitment and Development:
    • Hire, train, and communicate explicit expectations on all aspects of principal duties as defined in the job description; supervise and evaluate job performance to hold principals accountable for their school's performance.
    • Collaborate with executive leadership team to create professional development plans for school leadership when appropriate; while also, providing guidance and coaching to hire capable staff and setting appropriate expectations.
    • Ensure school leaders understand and can articulate all leadership performance expectations; in addition to all aspects and expectations of student accounting including enrollment, attendance, retention, and credit earning rate.
    • Assess school leadership for cross training purposes and collaborate with internal departments involve development of potential internal leaders; meanwhile, evaluating leadership using internal evaluation, and leader evaluation systems tools.
    • Build a collaborative regional team that tackles and solves challenges as a team versus in silos.

  • Metrics and Goal Expectations:
    • Ensure all assigned schools meet or exceed the FTE student enrollment goals, in addition to meeting established student attendance, retention, credit earning rate, and graduation goals.
    • Hold principals accountable for performance metrics, contractual obligations, state and district accountability measures, state and contractual school evaluation outcomes; and report status of these key performance metrics regularly to the executive leadership team.
    • Ensure principals meet authorizer and state compliance metrics, in addition to effectively monitoring district deliverables and district compliance reviews.

  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships with charter boards, school districts, and other community partners to ensure aligned support with school mission and performance goals.
    • Ensure VPSO and CEO are informed of school achievements and vulnerabilities
    • Provide guidance and assistance involving official school stakeholder tours and visits
    • Provide regular stakeholder management updates to VPSO to update stakeholder tracking, in addition to quarterly operational performance updates to the charter board.

  • Following SOM & Driving School Results:
    • Responsible for overseeing schools budgets and ensuring that principals exercise appropriate fiscal management; as well as, identifying cost reduction opportunities where appropriate.
    • Regularly analyze assigned school performance data, provide strategic direction on the effective operation of the ALS instructional model, and implement corrective measure plans when needed.
    • Work with assigned school leadership on the annual school improvement plan (SIP) to target school growth areas.
    • Ensure School facilities meet operational expectations regarding safety, security, cleanliness, etc.


Job Requirements and Prerequisites:

  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership/Administration, or a related educational field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Ability to rigorously oversee and monitor throughout the region all aspects of school management, operation, and performance; in addition to holding school leadership strictly accountable for results; and to take swift and appropriate action when expected progress or performance is not realized.
  • Ability to travel to other sites/locations at least 70% of the time.
  • Experience in establishing positive relationships within the community that allows for constructive dialogue with school district representatives, community leaders, and state regulatory officials.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Excellent supervisory, communication, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive management experience in areas related to organization of business.
