Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Tolerate moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting 20 lbs. occasionally. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited university/Master's Degree preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in Special Education
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work within a confidential environment and maintain the confidentiality of information, records and materials;
- Knowledge of different disabilities and the special needs associated with each.
- Demonstrate knowledge of academic subject assigned;
- Knowledge of the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and the Individual Education Plan (IEP) development and implementation;
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction;
- Ability to instruct students and manage behavior; and
- Strong organizational communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- 3 years successful teaching experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
- Implement research-based interventions for academic performance and behavior.
- Provide high quality instruction to individual students and small groups.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Continually monitors and records data on student performance and progress.
- Provide present levels of academic and functional performance, develop goals and objectives for the purpose of IEP meeting
- Develop and implement accelerated and intense programs of instruction.
- Provide Positive Behavioral interventions and Support (PBIS) to students as needed
- Update progress report every quarterly based on students performance and achievement.
- Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level.
- Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify strategies to be implemented for students.
- Participates in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Supports students through the implementation of the IEP to meet the individual needs of our students.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles, and needs of students assigned
- Knowledge of different disabilities and the special needs associated with those
- Knowledge of the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and the Individual Education
Communication
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and special education teachers, ARD facilitators, and classroom teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective expressive and written communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Attend special education departmental meetings.
