Description

Do you want to be involved in the administration and operation of our Special Education program in the Reading School District?

Interested in joining a multi-disciplinary team with a strengths-based approach, emphasizing applied behavior analysis and positive behavior supports?

If you answered YES, then consider joining The Center for Effective Schools Team!

The Administrator of Special Education will have expertise in Emotional Support classrooms and help lead our multi-disciplinary team with a strengths-based approach, applied behavior analysis, as well as positive behavior supports. In an administrative capacity, this role will also allow the selected candidate to oversee and provide oversight to our educational program in an urban school district while obtaining support from our Center for Effective Schools team.

Under the direction of the Director/Assistant Director, the Administrator of Special Education will utilize his/her expertise and experience to:

  • Participate in personnel functions related to maintaining adequate staffing.
  • Serve as a resource to parents/guardians, school/district personnel, and Devereux CES administrators.
  • Maintain the special education program and services in conformance with Devereux and district policies and standards as well as state and federal laws.

The Center for Effective Schools (CES) is a non-profit research and training center dedicated to building the capacity of schools and other child-serving institutions to better serve children and adolescents with, and at risk for developing, emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD). This mission is accomplished through training, consultation and applied research. The CES is a division of Devereux's Institute of Clinical and Professional Training and Research. Established in 1999, the CES is located in King of Prussia, PA, just outside of Philadelphia. From its inception, the primary focus of the organization was and continues to be addressing the needs of children with and at risk for EBD and their families by promoting effective practices, informed by scientific evidence, to improve lives. Learn more at www.centerforeffectiveschools.org.

The CES utilizes an "indirect" service delivery approach whether working at the individual or systems level. The theoretical foundation of this work is based in applied behavior analysis and positive behavior support and, to the extent possible, delivered within a preventative or early intervening framework.
