Job Title: Coordinator I - Technology Projects

Department: Information Technology

Reports to: Director III - Information Technology

GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for coordinating a variety of technology projects from inception through implementation, ensuring compliance with procurement practices, ensuring a collaborative environment that ensures successful completion of projects and supporting project management in the information technology department. Projects may include selection and implementation of software, yearly projects such as coordination of technology deployments, budget and process development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Serve as a project manager within the information technology department.
  • Prepare project plans, develop requirements for a variety of projects including defining the scope of the project and determine financial and human impacts of a project.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within and outside the information technology department to determine project scope and long-term success of a project.
  • Effectively communicate the status of a project creating successful milestones.
  • Create documentation throughout each project to ensure effective handoff of a project from implementation to maintenance.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure success of goals through a project and beyond.
  • Ensure compliance with technology procurement in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Monitor financial impacts of a project and information technology budget to ensure efficient use of district resources.
  • Assist with ongoing creation of documentation in the information technology knowledgebase.
  • Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in technology, project management or related field, preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility.


Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
  • Project+ or PMP certification preferred.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Knowledge based competencies required to perform the functions of the job include: project management strategies and best practices; current generation and legacy technology systems; server and computer hardware/network and troubleshooting techniques; general information security; and understanding software systems.
  • Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
  • Skill based competencies required to perform the functions of the job, including operating job-related equipment.
  • Ability to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions.
  • Ability to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.
  • Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups.
  • Ability to analyze issues and create action plans.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
  • The work is sedentary work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
