    Responsibilities Instructional program:
  • Facilitate Student learning in the processes of performing, creating, and responding.
  • Able to successfully model instruction and implement differentiated instructional strategies that accelerate the skills and knowledge of the students.
  • Expertise in instructing students in cultural dances, including ethnic dances from a variety of cultures, demonstrating nuances of each.
  • Expertise in grounding students in the social aspect of all dances and their impact on society.
  • Familiarity with the National Core Arts Standards and ability to teach all required components (style, history, choreography, aesthetics).
  • Knowledge and use of assessment and diagnostic strategies in dance education.
  • Expertise in providing students with learning opportunities to explore the creative process, such as exploring use of levels, pathways, rhythms, movement qualities and energy.


  • Classroom Supervision:
  • Create space for students to explore their creative side and feel safe.
  • Promote positive self-concept in each student; provide encouragement to each student to develop his or her full potential.
  • Understand social and emotional adjustments of students.
  • Promote student awareness and respect for different cultures.
  • Maintain records of individual students' progress through appropriate assessments. Provide feedback throughout the process.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance and tardiness records.


  • Professional Responsibility:
  • Work in the interest of the students' physical and emotional welfare and to embrace a growth mindset.
  • Keep inventory of materials, equipment and supplies and work with school administration to order supplies and maintain the dance studio space.
  • Participate as appropriate in programmatic-community public performances.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of people.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.


  • Preferred QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current Connecticut Certification in Dance (483) or eligible for DSAP
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Ability to work with a diverse high school student population


  • Hourly rate: $38.50

    Hours : Monday/Tuesday/Thursday, 2:45pm - 4:45pm from January 2022 June 2022
