The mission of the Great Oaks Foundation is to provide students with access to a quality education through high-dosage tutoring.
We are seeking team-oriented, student-centered, service-minded individuals who share the belief that all students deserve a high-quality education. Great Oaks (GO) Americorps Fellows gain valuable professional and personal experience and acquire skills in civic-engagement, teamwork and leadership during the service term. The ideal candidate for the GO AmeriCorps Fellowship is a college graduate who is passionate about service and working with youth. The Great Oaks Foundation has partnered with schools to provide placement opportunities for GO Americorps Fellows to serve students through high dosage tutoring and mentoring. GO AmeriCorps Fellows serve from Maryland to Connecticut.
Position Summary
GO AmeriCorps Fellows are directly responsible for providing individualized instruction, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities to several small groups of elementary, middle or high school students each day in a half-time AmeriCorps service position. Fellows serve Monday-Friday and some weekends- an average service day lasting 9 hours.
Key Responsibilities
Instruct for Mastery - Fellows deliver individualized small-group instruction to students in math and/or English Language Arts for an average of four (45 minute) periods per day, and provide in-class or curriculum support.
Mentor for Leadership - Fellows support students' social emotional growth in small mentor groups. Fellows cultivate relationships with families through weekly communication, ensuring open conversations about student progress.
Develop a Community- Fellows support to develop an enriching school environment by being present during arrival, dismissal, lunch and transition of students as well as school and community-based events. Fellows lead and support after-school programming.
Benefits
Fellows are provided a modest living stipend, a local housing allowance, and access to food and health benefits. Fellows will be eligible for an AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon successful completion of the service term in good standing.

Qualifications
- Earned Bachelor's degree before January 5, 2022
- Citizenship or legal Permanent Residency status in the United States (AmeriCorps requirement)
- Served no more than three previous AmeriCorps service terms (AmeriCorps State & National requirement)
